Our trauma therapists servicing PA and NJ specialize in helping clients navigate through past traumas and find inner peace.

Close Up on Eyes

So much of who you are is wrapped up in who you used to be...

but the past seems to always show up just when you thought you had moved past those negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You want to live in the present moment but find it challenging when difficult emotions or triggering situations arise.

There are experiences you would like to have now, but memories from your past are causing you not to fully acknowledge those desires because if you do, then you have to bring awareness to the situation that caused you to repress it in the first place.

You are in a new process of life where you want to move forward without feeling shame, guilt, or fear.

You like to know what it's like not to have your anxiety create negative thoughts that cause you to be angry with yourself. You want to learn what it's like to truly process your trauma and not feel ashamed of your experiences while developing new understandings of why it happened to you and how you can use it for your greater good. You have done much verbal processing of what has occurred to you, yet the emotional, mental, and physical discomfort is still there. The desire to no longer feel stagnant and to have more joy and pleasure in your life is something you are still developing language around, but the trauma that made it hard for you to access those sensations and emotions is still very much present. You feel as though they are out of control, vulnerable, and naked. It is almost as though you are without any tools to protect yourself.

You want to identify and understand the parts of you that are emotionally exhausted, sad, hurt, heartbroken, tired, grieving, or scared.

Once you know what they need, you can address those needs and move forward with your life as usual. However, you would be lying to yourself if you said you did not know the part of you experiencing all these negative emotions is wanting more than what you have been giving yourself.

You are used to being able to figure it out, whereas now you are struggling with inner conflict regarding your current situation.

You have the desire to embrace and experience the emotions associated with your struggles entirely.

However, you may also feel hesitant and fearful of vulnerability. It's normal to have mixed feelings when dealing with challenging emotions and situations. Give yourself permission to take the time to work through your feelings and make decisions that align with your values and goals.

It's important to acknowledge that taking steps to address your emotional state can be stressful and cause anxiety because of the unknown variables.

However, confronting your emotions and working through past traumas can lead to healing and inner peace. Remember, taking the time to process and make decisions that feel right for you is okay.

EMDR is a specialty that our trauma therapist uses for clients who have had different levels of trauma

Clients having difficulty processing what happened to them by identifying the core beliefs that were created as a result of the trauma, bringing stress to what the client wants to believe is true about them now and what they would do in the future if a similar situation occurred in the future.

We have a team of trauma therapists who work with clients who have complex trauma on how to process their lived experiences using their five senses (see, touch, taste, hear, and small), visualization, guided imagery, relaxation techniques, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

As our trauma therapist builds rapport with a client, they may use various treatment modalities before introducing EMDR.

As treatment progresses and the client begins to learn and use the skills, strategies, and tools they've acquired in therapy to manage their trauma responses, the therapist will discuss the use of EMDR. It's important to note that EMDR is a therapeutic approach that can help clients process and reframe the emotional and mental discomfort they're experiencing. Since this discomfort may be rooted in past traumatic experiences, it's essential to address any uncomfortable thoughts, emotions, and sensations associated with those memories to pave the way for healing in the present.

Our goal is to assist you with staying in control while allowing yourself the opportunity to engage in healing practices with ease. Clients who have used EMDR in their treatment often talk about the experience as being super transformational because they are experiencing the thoughts, memories, beliefs, sensations, and emotions that were present during the traumatic experience in a safe place that allows them to explore new thoughts, memories, beliefs, and sensations to replace the ones connected to the trauma.
